General Concrete Care
To ensure your Obsidra Home pieces last a lifetime, please follow these detailed care instructions:
Cleaning & Dusting
Clean gently using a soft, damp cloth or a sponge. For deeper cleaning, use a mild dish soap with warm water.
Avoid abrasive tools like steel wool or scouring pads, as they can scratch the sealant and damage the surface.
Spills & Stains (Crucial)
Concrete is a porous material. While our products are sealed for protection, they are not stain-proof against all
substances.
Act Fast: Wipe up strong contaminants immediately. This includes coffee, tea, wine, oil, and acidic substances
(such as lemon juice or vinegar). Leaving these on the surface for too long can penetrate the sealer and leave
permanent marks.
Water Exposure
Do Not Submerge: Never plunge or soak the products in water. While they are water-resistant, soaking can
cause the concrete to absorb moisture, leading to structural weakness or discoloration.
Keep it Dry: If used in a bathroom or near a sink, wipe away standing water regularly.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Do not use harsh cleaning products, bleach, ammonia, or all-purpose cleaners containing strong acids. These
can break down the protective sealant over time.
Not Appliance Safe
No Dishwasher: The high heat and agitation will damage the finish and may crack the concrete.
No Microwave: Concrete can contain trace amounts of moisture. Microwaving it can cause cracking or
explosion due to rapid evaporation.
How to Clean Wax Residue
If you want to reuse your concrete vessel for a new purpose or a refill:
Warning: Never use boiling water. Pouring boiling water directly into the vessel creates thermal shock that can
cause the concrete to expand and crack instantly.
The Warm Water Method: Fill a bowl with warm tap water and place your vessel inside. Let it soak until the wax
softens. Wipe clean with a soapy sponge and rinse.
The Hair Dryer Method: Use a hair dryer on medium heat to gently melt the remaining wax. Wipe the liquid wax
with a dry paper towel, then wash with soap and water.
Sand Wax (Pearl Wax) Instructions
● Fill: Pour the Sand Wax granules into your clean concrete vessel.
● Wick: Insert the wick into the center (leave approximately 1/4 inch exposed).
● Scent: Add your favorite fragrance oil directly onto the wax, focusing close to the wick and avoiding the far
edges.
● Refresh: After burning, allow the wax to cool. Remove the hardened wick clump, gently shake the remaining
sand to level it, and insert a new wick to start fresh.
